Hello Dr. Lukanov

and welcome.

It`s interessting to see these pictures.

Can you tell us something about the history of this breeds and the origin.

Do you have any kind of breeds with a small crest on the head?

like this one on the picture, maybe in other colours?

Regards from Bavaria

I apologize for my weak knowledge in english.
Unfortunately in Bulgaria it is not breding chickens like Altsteirer.

this is my site: bulgarianbreeds.dir.bg (http://bulgarianbreeds.dir.bg) There are pictures of the bulgarian breeds (Drachenreiter, thank you).

Origin of Black Shumen/Shumenska chicken: small black chicken developed in Bulgaria centuries ago. The name is thought to derive from the lace bonnets of the Shumen region.
In middle of XX century Black Shumen/Shumenska chicken is crossed whit black Minorca and Rhode Island red.

Origin Stara Zagora/ Starozagorska red chicken: this is a breed of chicken which had been developed in Hybrid center of Poultry, Stara Zagora, Gharbia. The local red hens and Rhode Island red male were utilized for developing this dual- purpose breed through selection and breeding system.

I'm sure that in Germany many people husbandring and breeding these breeds (our form prove that). But here in Bulgaria the economic situation is not very good and to buy and delivery on eggs or chickens is very expensive- two douzen eggs costs about 120 Euro with the delivery and bank taxes and this is the half of my month salary. But despite of everything I have a big desire to keep this as a hoby.

Greetings from Bulgaria.

You should organize this on a other way. Maybe you have a friend or someone else who live or work in Germany - these person can take about 20 egg for breeding on holiday for example easter hol. whit him by car and the price is not so expensive.

The pictures from your country and the chickens are very nice.

Hello

Yes, have it and this option. I have another idea, we created a club of poultry fanciers in Bulgaria (http://feathersclubbg.dir.bg/_wm/pbasic/?df=186&dflid=3). In the spring I with a few friends will visit several clubs in Germany, my aim is to present Bulgarian breeds and provides a hatching eggs of Black Shumen chicken and Stara Zagora Red Hen of a visited clubs (from "Poultry Institute" in Bulgaria) , and I promised hatching eggs spitzsabine, having gratitude for responsiveness. We will buy eggs from breeders to improve the various breeds of birds by members of our club. Birds bred by breeders in Germany are among the best quality in the world, I believe there will be clubs who will respond!

I know very well thise breed. According to me and many others, it is among the most beautiful breeds with his unique color and grace. It is a pity that such wonderful birds are among the rarest breeds in the country where they are created and the country with over 250 000 poultry breeders. The same applies for Black shumen chicken and Starozagorska chicken in Bulgaria.
My name is Hristo Lukanov and I'm a veterinary doctor and a specialist of poultry husbandry and breeding.

For the child. The roosters parents are ok, but he has changed after the third time changing feather to? I send tomorrow :laugh Why is sending eggs for breeding to bulgaria so expensive?

The easiest and quickest way to avoid inbreeding is by replacing the male bird.
Bank fees are more expensive than transport, which is € 17 + € 7 premium DHL and Bank charges are € 30 for sending money and between 5 and 10 euros for bank recipient.

Yes the rooster is verry lovely, the hens are also beautiful, but it seems to me that their heads with a lot of white feathers. In this case change the female is a better option.

this is what i meant. So i look for some eggs from lakenfelder with black head. i am pleased tath my cock finds your contentment :) He got sg94 on 3 exhibitions(Sorry Langenscheid dictionary) And he has enough colour for making nice new chick :) And the small one is very nice too in physique. We too must work on colour. I think 1/4 of the chick will be ok.

Gruss

Marcel

Hello, thanks for the good reviews.Black Shumen chickens are really unique and they differ significantly from Australorp by exterior except the black color of the plumage.
Marcel, my friend thanks for the kind words ;). I hope soon in exhibitions in Western Europe these birds to be seen.

Greetings from Bulgaria,

Hello, about 2 months ago a group of enthusiasts created and register the Bulgarian Association of Poultry Breeders. As our main objective is to promote the breeding of pure-breed poultry and promotion of Bulgarian poultry breeds. In Bulgaria there are no major fancier-poultry traditions in contrast to the breeding of pigeons and canaries. Last year Bulgarian Pigeon Union is accepted as a member of the European Association (EE). This year has been presented Bulgarian breeds pigeons (more than 20 unique breeds) in the European exhibition in Nitra, Slovakia, where they were well received. I hope to soon, both Bulgarian hens breeds to obtain recognition of the European Forum.

Greetings from Bulgaria,
Hristo Lukanov
