Na, ich weiß nicht. Form, Größe und Farbe sieht verdächtig nach Gänseei aus. Was mich persönlich maßlos aufregt, ist die Haltung dieser Hühner >:(

Meinst, die machen dann eine Genanalyse ??? Kann ich mir nicht vorstellen, viel zu kostspielig. Warten wirs mal ab.

Die Haltung können sie denen dann auch gleich mal verbieten.

He Leute, das Ei wurde in Kuba gelegt, dafür finde ich die Haltung ja noch geradezu luxuriös...
Aber ob das wirklich ein Huhn gelegt hat? Kann ich mir auch nicht vorstellen..

Julie Hewitt has seen more eggs than most people will ever set eyes on.

With more than 30,000 chickens to look after, she's seen plenty with unusual shapes and with double yolks.But this giant egg tops them all.

Weighing in at more than 7.4oz (210g), it is nearly four times the size of an average chicken egg and is 9? inches long and 8? inches around its middle.

Mrs Hewitt's husband David found it in a chicken coop on the couple's farm near St Wenn, South East Cornwall.

She said: "My husband came running in saying, 'Look at this size of this!' We were just astounded by it."

Laid by one of their free-range chicken, it is more than double the size of a goose egg.

"You can't begin to picture the large size of the egg until you hold it up to a regular-sized one. Then you can see just how big it is," she said.

The couple own Rosedown Eggs, which has supplied shops across Cornwall since 1987.

Mrs Hewitt said: "We've seen quite a few types of egg over the years. We've seen overly large eggs and double yolks - but nothing quite like this."

Since it was spotted, the egg has had pride of place in the family kitchen where Mrs Hewitt takes care not to damage it.

The couple's four children - Harry, six, Daniel, four, Joseph, three, and 16-month-old Connie - have also been amazed by the giant egg.

"They want to take it into school and show it off," said Mrs Hewitt.

The Guinness Book of World Records states that the largest chicken egg was laid by a Black Minorca in England in 1896. It weighed nearly 12oz (340g). The heaviest was laid by a White Leghorn in New Jersey, America, in 1956. The double yolk and double shell weighed 16oz (453g).

Das Ei sieht original so aus wie unser "Rekordei", was ich letztens im Stroh gefunden habe. Im Endeffekt war das von der Pfauendame der Nachbarn, die uns mal für ein paar Tage besucht hatte :)
